Non-surgical rhinoplasty in Istanbul
For small changes without surgery, such as disguising a bump or supporting the tip: what filler can and cannot do, how long it lasts and why the nose needs particular care.
- Treatment time Usually 20–45 minutes
- Hospital stay None — you go home the same day
- Time in Istanbul One to two days, including your consultation
- Back to work Straight away for most people
What is non-surgical rhinoplasty?
Non-surgical rhinoplasty uses injected filler, usually hyaluronic acid, to change the shape of the nose temporarily. It can disguise a bump, support a drooping tip and make a slightly crooked nose look straighter, but it cannot make the nose smaller or narrower. Treatment takes up to about 45 minutes with numbing cream, the change is immediate, and redness usually passes in a day or two. Results typically last around six months. The nose is a higher-risk area for filler.
What it can do
- Disguise a bump on the bridge by filling around it
- Lift or support a drooping tip
- Make a slightly crooked nose look straighter
- Preview how some changes might look before surgery
What it cannot do
- Make the nose smaller or narrower
- Improve breathing; that needs rhinoplasty or septorhinoplasty
- Give a lasting change: filler is absorbed within months
Is it right for you?
It suits small refinements in a nose that breathes well, since filler can only add volume.
Usually a good fit if
- You want a bump disguised, the tip supported or a small dip smoothed
- You breathe comfortably through your nose
- You accept that the change is temporary
- You would like a preview before deciding on surgery
Better to wait or consider alternatives if
- You want a smaller, narrower or very different nose
- You have breathing problems or a deviated septum
- You have had nose surgery or fillers before, which needs careful assessment
- You are pregnant, breastfeeding or under 22, or have a skin infection
Techniques
Hyaluronic acid is the usual material because it can be dissolved.
Bridge camouflage
Small amounts are placed above and below a bump so the profile reads as a straighter line. The bump is disguised, not removed, and it is the most common reason people ask for this treatment.
Best for
A small bump on the bridge
Tip and small irregularities
Filler can give a drooping tip more support and even out small dents or asymmetry. Only modest changes are possible.
Best for
A drooping tip or minor unevenness

How Dr. İlker approaches non-surgical rhinoplasty
Op. Dr. Bilgehan İlker is a specialist in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, trained at Dokuz Eylül University, who also performs surgical rhinoplasty. Her pages describe nose filler for small irregularities such as a bump or drooping tip, and as a preview before surgery.
The nose's rich blood supply near the eyes calls for precise, careful treatment.
- Honest limits If you want a smaller nose or better breathing, you are told plainly that this needs surgery.
- Reversible product Hyaluronic acid is used, so the change can be dissolved if needed.
- Written consent The risks, including rare loss of vision, are explained before you sign.
The treatment, step by step
A typical appointment:
-
Consultation and photographs
Your goals are discussed and your nose examined; not everyone is suitable.
-
Numbing
Numbing cream is applied to the skin of the nose.
-
Injection
Filler is injected slowly at the lowest possible pressure; you may feel pressure or a pinch.
-
Shaping and checks
The shape is checked from several angles. Injection stops at once if the skin pales, vision changes or pain is unusual.
-
Leaving
You return to your day afterwards.
Your days in Istanbul
The treatment is short, but the nose is a higher-risk area.
-
Consultation in person
Before your treatment
Arrive early enough for an unhurried examination; treatment follows once you agree the plan and sign consent.
-
Stay close by
Treatment day
Stay in Istanbul at least overnight; unusual pain, skin colour change or any change in vision needs immediate attention.
-
A last look
Before you fly home
Redness usually eases within a day or two. Know which signs need urgent care at home.
Recovery, day by day
No recovery period, but the first days need care.
- First hour
Shape visible
The new profile shows at once. Report unusual pain, pale or blue skin, or blurred vision immediately.
- Hours 1–24
Red and tender
Redness, tenderness and mild swelling are common; avoid exercise and do not touch the nose.
- Days 2–3
Settling
Redness usually passes. Call if redness or swelling worsens after day three.
- Weeks 1–2
Final shape
Side effects settle and the final shape can be judged.
- Month 1
Review
A top-up, or dissolving, is considered if needed.
- Around month 6
Fading
The filler is absorbed and the nose returns towards its earlier shape.
- Any time later
Delayed reactions
Rarely, lumps or inflammation appear weeks or months later; report them.

Risks and how they are reduced
The nose's many small blood vessels lie close to the eyes, making it a higher-risk area for filler.
Anatomical knowledge, reversible hyaluronic acid, tiny amounts, slow low-pressure injection and stopping at any warning sign reduce the risk but cannot remove it. Blockages are treated urgently with hyaluronidase.
| Risk | How often |
|---|---|
Redness, swelling and tendernessSeen in about half of patients in a large series; settles on its own. | Common |
Filler movingFiller can migrate and blur the shape. | Uncommon |
InfectionTwo patients in a series of 5,000 treatments. | Rare |
Skin damage from a blocked vesselA blocked vessel can damage the skin it supplies; in the same series, three patients had a small area of skin necrosis. | Rare |
Loss of visionFiller entering a vessel that supplies the eye can cause blindness. The nose accounted for about four in ten of 365 cases published in 2018–2023, and most did not regain sight. | Rare |
Results and how long they last
The change shows at once and settles over one to two weeks. As filler adds volume, it balances proportions rather than reducing size.
Over the following months the filler is absorbed. You can repeat the treatment, or have the filler dissolved sooner.
How long it lasts: Around six months in most cases; a little longer with some products.
With any surgical or interventional procedure, results vary from person to person. We recommend a detailed consultation with your doctor before any procedure.
Before and after
Before and after photos are shared only with patients’ written consent. You can ask to see examples during your consultation.

Frequently asked questions
How long does non-surgical rhinoplasty last?
In most cases around six months, sometimes a little longer depending on the filler. It is not permanent: the hyaluronic acid is gradually absorbed and the nose returns towards its previous shape. If you liked the result, it can be repeated.
Can it make my nose smaller?
No. Filler adds volume, so it cannot make the nose smaller or narrower. It can make a nose look more balanced, for example by disguising a bump, but reducing size needs surgical rhinoplasty, which Op. Dr. Bilgehan İlker can discuss with you.
Can it fix a bump or a crooked nose?
It can disguise a bump by filling around it and make a slightly crooked nose look straighter. The bump itself is not removed; the profile is evened out. A bump on the bridge is the most common reason people ask for this treatment.
Is non-surgical rhinoplasty reversible?
Yes, if hyaluronic acid filler is used. An enzyme called hyaluronidase dissolves it, so the change can be undone if you dislike it or a problem develops. Permanent or other non-hyaluronic acid fillers can be difficult or impossible to remove.
Does it hurt?
Numbing cream is applied first. During the injections you may feel pressure or a pinch, and afterwards the nose can be red and tender for one to two days. How much discomfort you feel varies a great deal from person to person.
How dangerous is nose filler?
Serious complications are rare, but the nose is the area most often involved in published reports of filler-related blindness, as its vessels connect with those supplying the eye. Choose an experienced medical injector, a hyaluronic acid product and a clinic that explains warning signs.
Is nose filler FDA-approved?
No. The US Food and Drug Administration lists injection into the nose among the uses it has not approved, so any nose filler is used off-label. You should be told this, and what it means, before you give your consent.
Non-surgical or surgical rhinoplasty?
Filler suits small, temporary refinements with no recovery period. Surgery is the option if you want the nose smaller, need breathing corrected or want a lasting change. Dr. İlker offers both, so the consultation can compare them honestly for your nose.
Can I try filler before surgical rhinoplasty?
Filler can show how some changes might look, which helps some people decide. It cannot predict a surgical result exactly, because surgery can remove and reshape tissue while filler can only add volume. Treat it as a rough guide, not a rehearsal.
How long should I stay in Istanbul?
Plan one to two days: a consultation, the treatment and at least one night nearby, so that any warning sign can be checked quickly. Redness usually fades within a day or two, and your written plan confirms the dates before you book flights.
