Medical information
The following statement applies to every page of this website:
Our medical pages are written by the Bilgehan Clinic editorial team from the authoritative sources listed on each page. Medical review by Op. Dr. Bilgehan İlker is in progress, and each page shows its review status and the date it was last updated. Our editorial policy explains how this works.
An examination is always needed
Whether a procedure is suitable for you, and which approach fits you, is decided only after an in-person medical examination and assessment. After examining you, Dr. İlker may recommend a different approach, or advise against treatment.
A first opinion given in writing, by phone or on WhatsApp, including one based on photos you send, is general information. It is not a diagnosis, a treatment recommendation or a commitment to treat you.
Results vary
No result can be guaranteed. Recovery times and how long results last are given as typical ranges from the medical literature, not as promises. Your own result depends on factors such as your anatomy, your general health, how you heal and your aftercare. Any before-and-after photos show one person's result, which you may not achieve.
Risks
Every surgical and interventional procedure carries risks, including some that are rare but serious. Our procedure pages describe the main risks of each procedure. Dr. İlker explains the risks that apply to you at your consultation, before you decide.
Treatment abroad
Treatment takes place in Istanbul, Türkiye. Before you decide, think about travelling after a procedure, how long you will need to stay, follow-up care once you are home, and what would happen if a problem appeared after your return. Ask us about each of these before you decide, and see our information for international patients.
We encourage you to discuss your plans with your own doctor at home.
Emergencies
If you have had a procedure and notice a warning sign, follow the aftercare instructions you were given and contact the team that treated you. If your symptoms are severe, call emergency services first.
Under 18
This website is written for adults. Decisions about treatment for anyone under 18 are made together with a parent or legal guardian, and only after an examination.
